About Roz

Roz’s debut memoir, Mood, was published with Wakefield Press in October 2023. Longlisted for the 2020 Kill Your Darlings Unpublished Manuscript Award and shortlisted for the Scribe Nonfiction Prize, Mood explores the intersections between mental illness, Jewish and queer identity, and intergenerational trauma. Roz’s writing has appeared in the Big Issue, the Conversation, Crikey, the Guardian, Huffington Post, Island Magazine, Overland, Junkee, Kill Your Darlings, Meanjin, SBS and the Sydney Morning Herald, and in the anthologies Growing Up Queer In Australia (Black Inc.) and Living and Loving in Diversity (Wakefield Press).

Roz is an experienced presenter, public speaker, interviewer and moderator. They have performed and presented at the Wheeler Centre, the Emerging Writers’ Festival, the National Young Writers’ Festival, the Melbourne Fringe Festival, Bendigo Writers Festival, Q-Lit and EnQueer Festival. They have been interviewed on podcasts, ABC Radio National, Joy FM, Triple R, 3CR, Channel 31 and SBS. In 2021, Roz was a writer in residence with Moreland (now Merri-bek) Council. Roz is a mentor and manuscript assessor at Writers Victoria, has judged applications for fellowships and residencies, offers manuscript assessments and sensitivity reads, and runs writing workshops.

Roz recently completed a PhD at the Australian Research Centre in Sex, Health and Society at La Trobe University researching the impacts of engaging in life writing on mental health and wellbeing.
